September 2009
New York Fashion Week is almost here and, like every other season, the excitement is building and designers are frantically perfecting their collections for the Spring 2010 shows. But unlike seasons past, this year something truly special is happening. On the first night of Fashion Week, September 10th, New York City is celebrating its first ever Fashion’s Night Out.
Vogue magazine, the City of New York and the CFDA have put together an event to reinvigorate people about fashion and awaken that consumer strength that was once so powerful. Stores across the 5 boroughs of New York City will be open until 11:00pm to celebrate fashion with everything from sweepstakes and celebrity appearances, to makeovers and concerts. (I’ll be joining in on the festivities at Saks Fifth Avenue and I can’t say I’ll mind doing my part by picking up some designer goodies along the way- my shopaholic tendencies are ready to kick in!)
I am so proud to be part of a city where we strive to empower each other; help our economy, support our boutiques and department stores and, well when it gets down to it, SHOP!
