Labor Day

Labor Day weekend for me is like the beginning of a new year! Need to get my head plus my surroundings and wardrobe ready for fall. Looking forward to spending time with Cruzzie, my grandson, in between working to get ready for our fashion week presentation. Enjoy Labor Day weekend with your families!

New York Summer

I had the best time enjoying a walk down Park Avenue all the way to Soho on Saturday. Love having the avenue open just for joggers, walkers and cyclists. The best treat of all was running into the amazing Bill Cunningham as always with his camera, and having a photo taken with him! How great is that- love New York!

The Art of Bonsai

Ken and I discovered this Bonsai nursery in Manila. So beautiful to behold! Many are over 100 years old from the sea. Truly works of art!

Now Gallery Opening

Had the best time getting into the newest art gallery in Manila 30 minutes before the official opening and scooping up a few great new works by two amazing Filipino contemporary artists. Bravo to Patrick Reyno for opening his dream gallery, Now Gallery in Makati City, and following his love and passion for Filipino artists!

Madame Gres: Couture At Work

While on my trip to Paris I saw an absolutely amazing exhibit of Madame Gres! The setting in the Musee Bourdelle displaying designer Germaine Krebs elegantly draped dresses with amazing sculptures was awesome. I was so inspired and only wished our whole design team could see the beauty of her creations in person!

The New Face of Guerlain

What a treat to meet the gorgeous actress Michelle Yeoh on my trip to Paris! I had drinks with her and my great friend Olivier Echaudemaison, creative director of Guerlain. Michelle just signed up to be the face of Guerlain in their new advertising campaign. How cool to have an Asian beauty represent Guerlain, one of my favorite beauty brands!

Launching Arts in Action Japan

What an honor for me to host the launch of Arts in Action Japan with the Asian Cultural Council and Mikimoto on Fifth Avenue last night! I have been on the board of the Asian Cultural Council for 16 years! Through Arts in Action Japan, we hope to raise funds to support the needs of the artists and their communities damaged by the earthquake devastation in Japan. The program enables artists to re-engage in their crafts and share the power of the arts in emotional healing and physical rebuilding within their devastated communities. Thank you Mikimoto for your support of this cause! It was glorious for me to be surrounded by the most exquisite pearls imaginable and to be decked out for the occasion!

A Golf Weekend

What a weekend for golf. I was mesmerized with Rory McIlroy winning the US Open- so effortless and cool! How great is that to win on Father’s Day! Having golf fanatics in my family, my father, my husband and our son, I could just imagine the father’s joy. Though I managed to take 4 hours of golf lessons this weekend, I have a long way to go to play a serious game. What a difficult sport!

Getting Fit in our Natori Showroom

What a fun week in the fitness arena. Nicole Winhoffer, my celebrity trainer niece, gave my daughter-in-law Anika and I a couple of great sessions. I could barely keep up with the dance moves but I had so much fun! I can’t believe she trains Madonna two hours daily!  She surely made me feel younger and cooler.  I enjoyed working out with her so much that I invited her into the Natori showroom to give our employees a chance to take one of her amazing classes. Everyone loved it! Check out her blog- Nicole is a talented artist and dancer who has her sights set on creating a whole concept of art in dance, fitness and music! http://tastenicolewinhoffer.blogspot.com/

Happy Fathers Day

I couldn’t think of a better gift to give to my husband Ken for Father’s Day than taking a slew of golf lessons all weekend together from the great pros of GlenArbor Golf club!  Just like the good old times when we both started playing golf 39 years ago! Have a wonderful Father’s Day with your family this weekend.
