What fun to be in Bali! The Bali aesthetic is our inspiration for our Spring 2011 collections! The ease of life, the lush greenery, amazing tie dyes, and beautiful artisanship are all so inspiring! I also had the wonderful opportunity to get a personal tour of John Hardy’s factory which is so impressive.

I just loved being with over 80 women at a lunch hosted by Saks Palm Desert last week. Most were avid Natori lingerie fans and it was so gratifying to see them enthused by the Natorious ready to wear and fragrance collections too! I wish I could do this more around the country. The positive response makes the hard work worth it. Women are back to shopping again!

I am amazed how much our good friend Terry Lundgren, Chairman, President and CEO of Macy’s, Inc., was able to raise on Monday. The event, hosted by the Fashion Institute of Technology, raised a staggering 4.3 million dollars for FIT and his alma mater, the University of Arizona! What a great thing for education in retail and fashion!

I had the best time meeting an amazing group of fashion bloggers in my home last week. I am fascinated with this phenomenon that is shaping the new world! Each one was so interesting and such fun to converse with. Now I can’t wait to do it again- until then I’ll be reading their blogs!

It’s amazing that Roberto Cavalli is celebrating 40 years in this business. I admire how he’s totally focused on who his customer is and then creates exceptional clothing for her- she’s the woman who wants to show off and be sexy!

What fun it was to work with customers at the Julian Gold boutique in Corpus Christi, Texas and the Tootsie’s boutique in Houston last week. My favorite was selling 14 pieces of Natorious to this glamorous woman who took a break from work to treat herself. My kind of woman!
I get such a high being in the store dressing and helping customers. It’s the best way to get feedback- to learn what we are doing right, what we’re doing wrong and what we can do better!

Monica Rich Kosann knows the importance of family, memories, and the things that represent them. A personal Heirloom could be a picture, a piece of clothing, an antique; anything really. Monica’s eMagazine features interviews on everyone from designers to editors about their own Heirlooms. She recently interviewed me about my Heirloom, a Buddha that I discovered on a trip to Vietnam with my mother. It’s been a whirlwind again here in Paris. Two days of buying fabrics for the spring 2011 collections. I still love the hunt of discovering new fabrics and working on colors. Next spring is coming together with loads of color, tie dyes and butterflies. Even managed to squeeze in a quick shopping spree at my favorite flea market.
Wish you could all see our Fall 2010 lingerie collections. We’re showing them this week to buyers and have gotten a fabulous response. Tibet was the inspiration- the jewel tones are especially striking throughout each collection. It is hard work but satisfying when the vision is realized. And I can’t help but brag- our Josie Natori Couture this season is the best ever! But I can’t rest because next week is fashion week when we’re presenting our ready-to-wear collection!
