Natori Swim Debuting at Miami Fashion Week

Finally, we are launching a Natori swimwear collection. I have been wanting to do this for ages! It’s such a natural evolution of the Natori brand to translate our expertise in lingerie to swim. The collection will feature our signature prints and vibrant Natori colors. Most importantly, we are focusing on the perfect fit including many styles that are cup sized to give the same comfort and function as our bras. I am having a ball designing the cover-ups- they are all good enough to double as glamorous tops that can be worn from day to night!

Here is a look at one of our styles that will feature a wild print. We are preparing to debut the collection at Miami Fashion Week on July 16th so stay tuned for more sneak peeks!

All About Color Blocking

This Resort season takes color blocking to the next level- it’s pops of bright colors on interesting silhouettes and textures. I love seeing the collection come together as we style the looks in our NYC showroom. We are playing with shapes and silhouettes, asymmetry and combining brights with neutrals. For your warm weather getaways through the work day, this collection covers it all. So great to get a positive response from editors and retailers alike!

Check out a few of my favorite looks!

Bulol Art Exhibit

I had such a fun time this week going to the exhibit of my nephew, Hadrian Mendoza, an artist using clay as a medium for amazing ceramic objects.  I was so impressed with his work! Visit his exhibit at the Philippine Center through June 17th. http://hadrianmendoza.com/

Celebrating 65 years

Back in Manila again for a week to celebrate my parents 65th wedding anniversary- just amazing! They even continue to go to work daily. I’m fortunate to have their genes! It’s always great when I can be with the whole family.

Bringing art into life: on set at our Home Accents photo shoot

What a fun experience watching the photo shoot of our new home accents collection. We used a gallery setting to feature the trays, boxes, stools. Decorative objects, frames and more all displayed like works of art! I am so proud of this newest addition to the World of Natori, available in stores this August. Thank you to the great team we have who made this possible!

Catching Up with Manhattanville Alum

What a crazy week! Returned from Asia on Monday to host 130 alumni from my alma mater, Manhattanville College, in our Natori showroom. It was amazing seeing alumni from the Class of 1955 through the Class of 2011. I feel fortunate to have received the Manhattanville education that surely groomed me to become what I am today! The energy of the evening from all these remarkable women was very inspiring!

Gift of Music Gala

What a special evening last night at the Orchestra of St. Luke’s Gala. I had the privilege of giving one of the evening’s awards to no other than Mikhail Baryshnikov! What a special person and artist he is! Of course, the evening was topped off with an amazing musical program by the orchestra! And last but not least the magical touches of David Monn, in my opinion the best of the best in event design, in the Plaza ballroom were breathtaking!

Natori Home Accents

Am so thrilled to present to retailers this week our Natori home accents collection, set to launch in stores this fall! This is our first foray into the home accents market and what fun it has been to see the collection come to life- picture frames, trays, boxes, stools, candelabras, chargers and more. I couldn’t ask for a better team to execute this vision. I can’t wait for customers to be able to purchase these extraordinary pieces and bring them into their own homes.

On set at our Fall 2011 photo shoot

Couldn’t be happier with the outcome of our fall 2011 collection photo shoot! I tend to be difficult about model choices but this time we had three models, one each for our Natori, Josie and N Natori brands, and I have to say, it was close to the perfect trio. Each one represented the brand so seamlessly! Loved our photographer, Alistair Taylor Young, who got the spirit of fall’s fashions. Thank you Andrew, our fabulous creative director, who put it all together!  Here’s a little peek:

Young Presidents Group travels to the Philippines

After years of discussing it I finally convinced my Young (although we’re older today) Presidents Forum Group to embark on a trip to visit the Philippines! This is an amazing group of people who I have known for close to 25 years. Schlepping nineteen VIP’s half way around the world though is no easy task- especially because the tsunami disaster caused major trip upheavals but everyone made it happily to Manila.

Our first 2 days were jam-packed, including an amazing meeting with the President of the Philippines, President Aquino, who spent an hour talking with our group. We toured Old Manila where I re-learned a lot about the history of my country! Fascinating why Filipinos are unique- the multicultural conglomeration gives us our own distinctive culture.

Thank you Doris Ho for all you did to orchestrate this week. Doris exemplifies what I love about Filipinos. I love showing off all the amazing people of Manila!
More to come from my trip in the Philippines!
