With over 20 years of experience in home design and renovation, Lewis knows exactly what he wants and won’t settle for anything less than perfection. Subtle Shift Yoga

Yoga practice and the corporate environment are usually not thought of in close connection. Angie Hsu and Mimi Adelsbach, graduates of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, are changing this with their Subtle Shift concept of health and wellness. They aim to bring yoga to corporations, providing skills for employees to improve their health and wellness. Last week, Natori enlisted the expertise of Subtle Shift to promote wellness within our corporation. We loved the useful relaxation tips they gave us to utilize during the work day—stretching, breathing and meditation practices so simple that we can do them at our desks!

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

The Savage Beauty exhibit organized by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art honors the contributions of the late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen. His 19-year career, ending abruptly at the age of 40, pushed boundaries of artistic expression. The distinctive exhibit features over 100 ensembles and 70 accessories from his postgraduate collection through his final runway presentation, which took place after his death in February 2010. Curator Andrew Bolton of the Costume Institute frames the exhibit within the realm of Romanticism, taking the viewer through recurring themes and concepts within McQueen’s prolific work. This provocative exhibit, open now through August 7th, is an inspiring balance of beauty and horror gracefully straddling the worlds of art and fashion.

All On The Line

All On The Line, a new reality series starring Elle Magazine’s charismatic Creative Director Joe Zee, is wrapping up a successful first season on the Sundance channel. The episodes feature talented yet struggling designers who need to put it “all on the line” to save their failing collections in which they have invested their time, money and effort. Zee puts them back on the straight and narrow, balancing their creativity with savvy business decisions. “A lot of times, it was helping a designer straddle that fine line between art and commerce,” Zee explains. Designers include former Project Runway contestant Kara Janx, Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson alum Dana Maxx, and DKNY design director Leila Shams. We love watching every Tuesday night as Zee guides these designers away from the brink of bankruptcy using grounded business principles while maintaining their creative vision.
